Skylanders - Children's Game

There is this new rave for children(and big children like me) for video games.  This game is called Skylanders Giants.  Apparently there was a game before this one called Skylanders Spyro's Adventure.  Plus they are coming out with another game in the fall called Skylanders Swap Force.  Its an ongoing franchise.

This game includes a starter set with a portal and a three different characters.
In this game there are eight different elements(Water, Fire, Tech, Earth, Magic, Undead, Life, and Air) and each element includes a Giant(a figure who can do something special in that element). In these eight different elements include six different characters.  So if you do the math, there are a total of 48 different characters.  Also to make things more interesting, there are legendary characters(this just means that one of the 48 characters just have a special look to them) but makes a child want this one more than the regular one.

So here is the catch to this kind of game.  In order to complete the whole game, meaning to do every little secret and detail, you would need one character from each element to complete the game 100%.  As an uncle and big kid, I play this game with my nephew and myself.  I'm sure as a parent and someone who likes to spoil there niece/nephew you would buy a character for him for Christmas or birthday or just for the heck of it, trust me I have for myself and my nephew.

So here is the marketing for this product.  I have said there are 48+ characters for this single game.  Each character costs $10.99 each plus tax, and Giant characters are $15.99 each plus tax. Or they try and get you with selling a 3-pack character set for $25.99 plus tax.  Whomever came up with this marketing scheme was brilliant.  A starter pack which includes the game, a portal and three different character costs $79.99.  But we all know that once a child wants a new characters we kind of give in if he earns it, we'll get him one.

For myself, I know how much this game will be worth after it is all over and done with.  Character prices will maybe double in price if people still want them just like all the other fads did. So I will be trying to collect all 48+ characters for myself and nephew, because I am hoping one day they will be worth more then than now. As of now, I have 39 different characters.
All the characters with a plus sign is one that I own
